What is Breast Cancer ?

Breast cancer is a type of cancer that forms in the cells of the breast. It can occur in both men and women, but it is much more common in women. Breast cancer can develop in various parts of the breast, including the ducts that carry milk, the lobules that produce milk, or in other cells within the breast tissue.

Symptoms

  • Lump or Mass
  • Changes in Breast Size or Shape
  • Skin Changes
  • Nipple Changes
  • Pain in the Breast or Nipple
  • Swelling or Thickening

Mammography: Mammography is a crucial tool in the early detection of breast cancer. It is a specialized X-ray of the breast tissue. This screening method can identify tumors that are too small to be felt and may detect cancer before symptoms develop. Routine mammograms are recommended for women starting in their 40s, and for those at higher risk, they may be recommended earlier or more frequently. It's an essential part of breast cancer prevention and early intervention.

Treatment:

Treatment for breast cancer depends on various factors including the type of cancer, its stage, the patient's overall health, and individual preferences. Common treatment options include:

  • Surgery
  • Radiation Therapy
  • Chemotherapy
  • Hormone Therapy
  • Targeted Therapy
  • Immunotherapy
  • Reconstruction
